The club will be competing in the National Field Day contest in February, at the Scouts' Camp Delta in Delta Park. The contest is on 11 and 12 February 2012, and runs from midday on Saturday to midday on Sunday.
We've chosen Delta Part this time because it's close to home, making it possible for people to come and operate for a few hours at a time, instead of the whole weekend. It is possible to sleep out at the site, but not really necessary.
I'm looking for people to assist with:
If you don't have an HF antenna or radio at home, this is a chance to operate on HF, speak to some people all over the world. You don't have to be experienced, we'll show you the procedure, but you must be willing to sit and call continuously for an hour or two, and chat to everyone that comes along. Bilingual operators are a bonus, they get a lot more contacts!
Please let me know if you'd like to join in for some (or all) of the activities, on Saturday or Sunday. Please mail me at thomas@reversebiased.com or call me on 083 414 6133.
Once we have a group of operators and assistants together, we will discuss the details of the timetable, the equipment and other things.
